Code For America To Work With Puerto Rico To Develop Government Solutions

By Wil Payton

Code for America (CfA) programmers will be lending a hand to develop tools to improve government and foster economic development in Puerto Rico.

CfA is a non-profit that places developers, designers and researchers with local governments to address civic problems. Under the fellowship program, a one-year residency, participants work with government partners to devise solutions to regional issues.

Below is an excerpt from a News is My Business article on this development:

Puerto Rico was selected along with nine other cities to host the CfA program. The island competed against 50 other cities, landing one of the coveted spots. This selection comes in part as a result of the conclusion of the first Puerto Rico Tech Summit, during which CfA was represented.

“I am very excited and honored to work with the government of Puerto Rico. The government is a leading player in the region with innovative and citizen-focused initiatives,” said Clara González-Sueyro, one of the three fellows working on the island.
