Puerto Rico Crowdfunding Site Makes Significant Gains in Financing Projects

By Wil Payton

Antrocket.com, the Puerto Rico based crowdfunding site, has acquired more than 1,060 registered users and has successfully financed six projects during its initial four months of operation.

Antrocket.com has also launched a Spanish language version of its website to make it easier for its primarily Hispanic users to interact with the platform.

Crowdfunding is the collective effort of individuals who network and pool their money, usually via the Internet, to support efforts by other people or organizations. Crowdfunding is used in support of a wide variety of activities, including disaster relief, citizen journalism, support of artist by fans, political campaigns, startup company funding, free software development, scientific research, and civic projects. All a user needs is a broadband enabled computer to participate.

Below is an excerpt from a News is My Business article on this development:

“Four months of operation in Puerto Rico have served us to validate that the collective financing model known as crowdfunding has a strong following, and there are six success stories as proof. Also, we’ve been able to capture feedback from our users and integrate functionalities to Antrocket.com that prepare us to make a strong entrance into the Latin American market,” said Javier Torres, chief operations officer at Antrocket.com.
