That’s because the focus of the hearing was on “Defining and Mapping Broadband Coverage in America.”

FCC Change May Affect You
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently changed its definition of broadband to 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload, and that means a lot of Iowa now does not have broadband service that meets the new broadband benchmark. However, based on Connect Iowa’s mapping and research, broadband availability at these speeds is generally limited to metropolitan areas.

Boosting Broadband Access in Puerto Rico
Legislation has been proposed to make broadband Internet access faster and cheaper for residents of Puerto Rico. Senator Ramón Luis Nieves, author of the measure, announced the details of Senate Bill 1203 at a news conference Wednesday.
The senator emphasized that the bill was proposed as a mechanism for social justice and economic development.
