Lt. Governor Reynolds Recognizes Creston as Iowa’s Fifth Certified Connected Community

Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds and city of Creston and Connect Iowa officials recognized the city of Creston as the fifth community to become a Certified Connected Community in the state and the 21st in the nation. More than 30 residents and community leaders attended the celebration event at the Creston Chamber of Commerce, where results of an assessment and details of the county’s new technology action plan were unveiled.

Coryell County Hosts Connected Kickoff Meeting

Earlier this month, Coryell County hosted its first Connected Community Engagement Program kickoff meeting in Gatesville led by Connected Texas Community Technology Advisor Libbey Scheible.

County Judge John Firth welcomed guests and shared his support of the county’s involvement in the Connected program, stressing the importance of technology to the county’s economic development.

Connected Texas’ New Broadband Availability Figures Reveal Increases Across State

New research released in June by Connected Texas shows that 55.82% of Texas households now have access to fixed broadband at 25 Mbps download/1.5 Mbps upload speeds across the state, a 14 percentage point increase compared to 2011.

Clarendon County Releases Comprehensive Technology Action Plan

Clarendon County now has an action plan to make way for greater technology use across the community and pave the way for a brighter economic future. The Technology Action Plan was unveiled Thursday at Central Carolina Technical College, F.E. Dubose Campus in Manning, as part of Clarendon County’s participation in the Connected Community Engagement Program through the Connect South Carolina initiative.
