FirstNet: Media Coverage of Broadband Hero - Chairman Thomas Lampe

Lampe received the Broadband Hero Award from Connect Iowa for his dedication to the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet), which is a campaign to establish and operate a wireless broadband network solely for the use of public safety workers.

On June 10, Connect Iowa, Governor Terry Branstad, Department of Public Safety Commissioner Roxann Ryan, and representatives of the Iowa Statewide Interoperability Communications System Board (ISICSB) presented Chairman Thomas Lampe with the Connect Iowa Broadband Hero Award.

FirstNet Experiences Seamless Multi-Network Connectivity for Public Safety and Commercial LTE Networks
Sierra Wireless is the first to provide a seamless multi-network connectivity for FirstNet and commercial LTE networks. Band 14 networks are deployed in select areas of the U.S. and provide the ability to seamlessly switch between the dedicated public safety network and commercial network. The ability to transition is necessary to maintain connectivity and ensure that first responders can do their jobs safely.
