FirstNet Shows Promise for Needed Change to EMS
The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) will let emergency personnel communicate in ways that have previously been inefficient and insufficient. With FirstNet, emergency medical service (EMS) personnel will be able to access and deliver information quickly to save more lives than current connectivity allows.

DHS Looks to Leverage FirstNet
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) sees the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) as a national broadband network for emergencies and public safety to expand mission capabilities across DHS agencies.
Wolf Tomb, chief technology officer at Customs and Broadband Protection, told FWC that FirstNet “could open up communications at the border." That is why DHS Deputy CIO Margie Graves said, "We're invested in FirstNet.”

FirstNet: Smartphone Company Forms Public Safety Advisory Board
Sonim Technologies, one of only two Tier One smartphone OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) based in the United States has played a pivotal role in helping FirstNet get communication solutions to first-responders.

FirstNet on Wheels Update
The technology from Mutualink’s media-cohesion solution that was demonstrated will now be deployed in cooperation with FirstNet throughout the state of New Jersey this year to establish a first-responder LTE system comprised entirely of deployable equipment. In November 2014, we brought you a blog post sharing that FirstNet deployed an Enhanced System on Wheels (ESOW) at the 2014 Urban Shield preparedness exercise in Oakland, CA.
