Governor Haslam Announces Workforce Development Grant Recipients
Governor Haslam's office awarded the Nashville Technology Council an $850,000 state grant to team up with Nashville State Community College, Columbia State Community College, and Vol State Community College to increase enrollment and graduation rates in their technology programs. The Labor Education Alignment Program (LEAP) money will help the Tech Council team deliver more skilled IT professionals to the market.

Metro Nashville, MNPS, & Connected Tennessee Host Landmark “Anytime Access for All” Education Technology & Connectivity Leadership Summit
On Wednesday, May 21, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County, Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools and Connected Tennessee hosted a day-long event for local leaders from business, education, technology, community and civic organizations to launch a conversation for bridging Nashville’s digital divide for MNPS students who leave school each afternoon and return to homes without technology or broadband service.

MNPS Virtual School at The Cohn School, Tennessee’s first public virtual school
Metropolitan Nashville Public School (MNPS) Virtual School at The Cohn School, the state’s first public virtual school and the leading virtual school option for students in Nashville, is now in its fourth year. MNPS Virtual School offers students the opportunity to earn their high school diplomas completely online. While courses are free, eligibility is required to attend either on a full-time or part-time basis.

Connected Tennessee State Broadband Summit - February 27
Connected Tennessee is gearing up to host the first Connected Tennessee State Broadband Summit on Wednesday, February 27. This summit will be held at the Nashville Public Library downtown from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and will bring together local and state representatives from various industries including government, education, healthcare and more to learn about broadband best practices in the state, discuss strategies to address remaining barriers to broadband access, adoption, and use, and to network with other leaders across the state working to bridge the digital divide.
