Alaska Students Create Interactive Digital Storybooks to Preserve Indigenous Languages

The Kashunamiut School District in Chevak, Alaska has created an innovative and interactive way to aid in preserving and galvanizing the state’s 20 official indigenous languages. The past year, the Association of Alaska School Boards has worked with students to create interactive digital storybooks to use in the language immersion program for elementary students. The storybooks are told in multiple Alaska Native languages, including Alutiiq, Inupiaq, and Yup’ik.

FCC Commissioner Michael O’Rielly Visits Alaska
