Locals Join Statewide Broadband Initiative

WINNEMUCCA – Community leaders in Humboldt County have joined Connect Nevada’s statewide initiative to expand broadband adoption and use. They met July 12 to form an advisory committee in support of the effort to increase technology use in the county.

Group Forms to Expand Broadband in Humboldt County
Local leaders in Humboldt County are laying the groundwork to create new jobs and boost the economy across northeast Nevada. The Humboldt Development Authority (HDA) board has officially joined Connect Nevada’s statewide initiative to expand broadband adoption and use in its region. The leaders met Tuesday in Winnemucca to form a local advisory committee in support of the effort to increase technology use.

USDA rural broadband loan program updated
The USDA today released new information for applicants for its broadband loan program for rural areas. The program is designed to provide loans for the costs of construction, improvement, and acquisition of facilities and equipment to provide broadband service to eligible rural communities.

Report: Broadband strong in Nevada cities, but rural areas struggle with connectivity

Nearly 98 percent of Nevada households have high-speed broadband Internet access, with those without mostly in the state’s rural points, a report released Wednesday shows.

Nonprofit broadband entity Connect Nevada gets $2.5 million

Connect Nevada has received approximately $2.5 million in federal funding as part of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration's State Broadband Data and Development grant program.
