Wireless Communications Capacity is Necessary for Large Events
With current wireless technology, networks quickly get overloaded in large, emergency situations. The same is true for events with large crowds, which is another reason public safety officials are looking forward to FirstNet’s national communications network dedicated for first responders.
According to FirstNet, outreach and consultation efforts with first responders throughout the U.S. have revealed a need for large capacity communication and data needs during large events. As it currently stands, a lack of sufficient bandwidth causes congestion and unreliability. When coordinating public safety resources for large-scale events, such as sports games or festivals, a dedicated communication line is a necessary tool to ensure rapid response to any incidents that take place.
