‘Gig City Gaming’ with CDE Lightband
CDE Lightband launched its gig services in 2013 and has since received great feedback from its residential customers and the commercial industry has proven to be engaged customers as well. The city of Clarksville has also reportedly seen an influx of individuals and families relocating to the area due to CDE Lightband’s services.
This April, Clarksville will be hosting its annual “Rivers & Spires” community festival and one of the highlights of the event is sure to be CDE Lightband’s “Gig City Gaming.” Named for the city’s location at the confluence of the Cumberland and Red Rivers, as well as downtown’s many churches with huge spires, “Rivers and Spires” is an award-winning free festival with live music, interactive entertainment, activities for the kids, and great food held in historic downtown Clarksville.
CDE Lightband’s participation in this year’s festival will be in the “interactive entertainment” category of the festival, with an event called “Gig City Gaming.” In partnership with C3, a professional gaming and premier video game marketing company that specializes in online and offline video game events, CDE Lightband will turn an underground parking lot located along downtown Clarksville into a gamer’s paradise by offering more than 19,000 square feet of live online gaming using CDE Lightband’s gig service.
“There will be gaming stations set up throughout the garage, with live video streaming and even a dance-off gaming event,” said Christy Batts, broadband division manager at CDE Lightband. “ With 30-40,000 attendees wandering through the festival downtown, we’re excited to be able to take over the garage and offer a fun, interactive option for our residents and visitors, all the while showcasing our gig service.”
The “Rivers & Spires Festival” will be held April 24-26 in downtown Clarksville.
The Clarksville Department of Electricity (CDE) began operations in December 1938. All power consumed by CDE and its customers is supplied by TVA.
The department's service area includes all of the 100 square miles located within the boundaries of the city of Clarksville. Approximately 64,000 electric customers are served and 892 miles of power lines and 960 miles of fiber optic cable are maintained.
